Do you travel?

(click to reveal)

Yes I do - My wedding packages include travel to venues 50 miles and under away and anything above that is calculated at 45p per mile. Weddings further than 1.5 hours away from my home may mean I need to factor in overnight accommodation but this will all be discussed prior to booking. Travel costs for portrait sessions are discussed individually.

How did you get into photography?

(click to reveal)

I originally have an art & design background and whilst studying design at Art College in the early nineties did a module that included photography.ย  I instantly fell in love with it and decided to pursue it by staying on at Herefordshire Art College for a further two years and doing a BTEC National Diploma in Photography. The rest . . .ย  as they say is history! Over the years I've been involved in various different genres of photography, I've been a cruise ship photographer, worked in a mobile lab processing college graduation photographs and also photographed festivals. My work is still very varied even now but is mainly concentrated around weddings and portraiture these days.

Are you Insured?

Yes of course! I take my business very seriously. I have public liability, equipment and professional indemnity insurances in place to you can rest assured that everything is covered. Copies of policies can be seen if need be.

Are pre wedding consultations included?

(click to reveal)

They most certainly are. I've never shot a wedding without meeting at least one half (but usually both) of my couples in person. If this can't be done in person then ZOOM or similar is a really valuable tool these days. I even utilise this and have a handy 'book a Zoom' calendar right here on my website. I'm always at the end of an email or Facebook message and happy to help advise with lots of aspects of the planning, be that recommendations of other suppliers or timings of your day. All of my full day packages include a complimentary pre wedding shootย  - these are such a great way of getting to know each other and calm any nerves prior to the big day. These are often followed by a coffee and are a really good time to chat through some of the finer details.

Turnaround time & image amount

(click to reveal)

In busier times I allow up to 8 weeks to turn around your wedding but you'll often get them sooner than that if I'm able. Portrait sessions are usually turned around within 3 weeks, this can also be dependant on work load at the time but I always keep my clients well informed on timings and if there are any delays for any reason. Most full day weddings will have at least 800 professionally edited images (often more!) this also includes some black and white conversions of those images that suit this treatment. Portrait sessions often differ and will be discussed during the booking process.

Can you Photoshop us?

(click to reveal)

I pride myself on not adding filters or following any particular trends as I think this creates more timeless images. I promote body confidence and feeling comfortable in your own skin. I'm happy to remove any non-permanent blemishes like acne, rashes or bruises but in the main I'm all about capturing real moments. If you do have any concerns about anything please discuss these prior to your wedding or session and I'll do my best to accommodate these via lighting sensitively and the use of flattering camera angles.

Can you provide a payment plan for wedding photography?

(click to reveal)

I can and I'm more than happy to help with budgeting and providing flexible payment options. Your wedding photography is an investment and after your booking fee is paid to secure your date you can pay your balance in monthly increments should you wish or however you choose. Just so long as the whole balance is paid one month prior to the wedding day that's perfectly fine!

Do I have back up kit?

(click to reveal)

Always! I always bring WAY more than I need to a wedding in case of the rare occurrence of kit failure. Spare batteries and memory cards are stuffed in every pocket and back up camera bodies and light sources are always in my bag too. I'm prepared for any eventuality and all of my professional equipment is regularly serviced and maintained.

What happens if I can’t make it?

(click to reveal)

I'm proud to say that I've been photographing weddings since I left college 30 years ago and I've yet to miss a wedding!ย If ever there WAS a problem (it'd have to be a pretty big one) I would provide you with a trusted associate who I would cover the cost of. They will capture your wedding in a similar style to myself and give me the RAW files to edit. If not too short notice a short video call would be arranged to introduce you to the associate prior to the wedding and the after care, editing, correspondence and products included in your chosen package would still be provided via myself.

Can we get the RAW files of our images.

(click to reveal)

The short answer to this often asked question is No. I don't give clients RAW files of images, very few photographers will. By shooting in RAW a wedding photographer can make lots of complex adjustments to photos to make them look the best they can, they can do this by using professional software where things in the photo could be corrected, like underexposing for the sky. It is also important to understand that the RAW files are huge in file size, and even if you had the files you cannot just print the images off, you need special editing software to even open these files. A professional photographer won't give away these files because they are not the final images, they wonโ€™t have been edited to match the photographers style and they won't have been given that extra sparkle. RAWs are a little like an author's first draft or the ingredients of a cake - they aren't the finished article and the taking of the photograph is only half of the photographers job.

Can you provide a second photographer?

(click to reveal)

Yes I'm happy to help with providing a second shooter for your special day, in fact I'd prefer that you discuss this with me since then I can ensure that said photographer is reliable, has the relevant experience, insurance and that their style matches in with mine. A second photographer is often a helpful addition as they can cover some bits I can't. It's nice for example to have photographs taken of the groomsmen in the morning and I can't be two places at once. It's best for the second to be organised through me since I can then liase timings etc with them, we can synchronise our camera timings and settings and I can edit the images to match in with mine. The cost for a second completely depends on the duration the are required for and the distance they need to travel. My personal preference and recommendationย  for a second timings wise is from groom prep through to when you sit down for your wedding breakfast. I'm happy to cover speeches, cake cutting and anything else after your meal on my own.

Do we need to feed you at our wedding?

(click to reveal)

Yes please. . . It's really helpful to be provided with a meal when shooting a wedding day. It's often an extremely long day without any fuel. I never expect to be fed the same fancy meal as you, nor do I want to be seated with your guests (in fact it's lovely to have some quieter down time). I'm not particularly fussy with no dietary needs either but one thing I do always ask is if my meal could please be provided at the same time as you having your food.ย  As someone who often works solo it's often a real worry that something may be missed if I'm in a side room and can't see what's going on. I certainly don't want to miss speeches or any other important elements of your day. If food can't be provided for any reason please be aware that I will need to leave the site in order to get something.
